Ok, so I'm a day late and a dollar short. For the record, I need to say (if I didn't call you with excitement yesterday) that I picked the right church. My church (Central Presbyterian Church) is "Deliberately diverse and fully inclusive." And by diversity, they mean more than the color of our skin, our nationality, age, or our sexual orientation. (Although those are a big part of the church diversity.) Yes, my dear friends, they've included math geeks in their diversity! The announcements yesterday morning at CPC went something like this:
"I'm glad you all remembered to turn your clocks ahead. It's Pi Day. If you're interested in volunteering for SxSW..." Due to that, I received many "happy pi day" congratulations. I (somewhat) embarrassingly started rambling Pi, and didn't get as far as I thought I knew. Oh well, that's what I get for not memorizing any more digits in the past 7 years.
Just so I'm not the only one rolling my eyes at my parents (happy MARCH btw, Dad. Have you MARCHed to the DER yet?), here's an email from my mom. It is far too horrible for me to be the only one who rolls her eyes at it. Please do not hold back your laughter (or your tears if you're directly related to these folks). Together, hopefully we can tell those retired folks to keep doing Sudoku's and leave the math jokes to the pi-fessionals.
(The subject line is "Pi NOT???)
HAPPY PI DAY !!!
Pi hope you're planning to celebrate with puns of pie.
Punny, I have to make a pie for the shop today. What should I
make...pi-apple pie? Pi don't you make a pie today??
Last night, we had a pi-zza pie to celebrate early. I had 3.14 pieces, more
than usual because it wasn't very good.
Pi Pi
Love Mom and Dad
